If elected to Parliament on May 6^th as your next MP Gail will work hard with her Lib Dem colleagues to build a fairer Britain.  

Here are her pledges to North East Somerset residents:   

Economy: Implement Vince Cable’s plans to give real help to millions of working families and boost the local economy by raising the individual tax free allowance to £10,000 each. Cut out tax loopholes for the rich and reduce income tax by taxing pollution. 

 Environment:

• Protect the environment by campaigning against plans to builds thousand of houses on the greenbelt.
• Bring empty homes back into use for affordable housing. Increase the energy efficiency of all houses to save money and keep homes warmer.
• Planning decisions should be taken away from central government and decided locally.
• Make buses and trains affordable and reliable so that people have a real choice on how to travel. Re-open railway lines and stations such as Bathampton, Saltford and Radstock.
• Provide free school transport
• Consider free bus passes to give children and young people access to services.

Education: Cut wasteful admin and set teachers free to spend more time in the classroom. Raise standards in every school with a pupil premium for every child. Reduce and eventually eliminate university tuition fees.

Democratic Reform: Use local groups and meetings to bring democracy closer to the people. Reform the constitution to give people the freedom to sack their MP if they break the rules. Introduce a fairer voting system. (For more information click here)
