Young people in Peasedown St John will be given another chance to have their say at the end of November when local B&NES Councillor Nathan Hartley (Lib Dem) holds the first ever Councillor’s Advice Surgery at Peasedown Youth Centre.
No appointment is needed, any young resident of secondary school age can come and chat to Nathan and discuss any issues concerning the local area. Cllr Hartley, who has worked on a wide range of projects for young people over the last ten years, said: “Since becoming a Councillor in May 2007, Advice Surgeries have been an important part of the work Cllr Sarah Bevan and I do in Peasedown to reach out to people. Too often, politics and politicians are perceived as being out of touch with grassroots issues. I hope that by holding an Advice Surgery at Peasedown Youth Centre local teenagers can talk to me about their concerns and any aspirations they have for their community.” The Advice Surgery will take place on Wednesday 25th November, between 7pm-9pm. On the same night the Peasedown Youth Community Council will also be meeting. These meetings open to any young person living in Peasedown St John. Agenda items include the new BMX track play park on the Recreation Field, and Party in the Park 2010.
