Peasedown takes a stand! - 12th March '10 E-mail
Local school children have a safe haven to store their bikes if cycling to school in Peasedown now, thanks to local Councillor Sarah Bevan, who contacted a Bristol-based business offering free cycle stands to local communities.

The stands were installed by local builder M D Building Services Ltd, who were on the school site during half term and agreed to fit in this extra work while they were there.

Cllr Bevan said:

'Lifecycle UK provides cycle stands for all community enterprises, such as co-operatives, schools and public open spaces. I was so lucky to get these, as our quota had almost been used up for this financial year. Our local school already has the highest proportion of walk to school parents and children, so this will enhance its green credentials even more'.

Other sites where Cllr Bevan has procured cycle stands for Peasedown include Hillcrest Surgery, where one of the GPs regularly brings his bike to work for use when on his visits to patients round the village.

Cllr Bevan added:

'This project was inspired by a young mother who has recently moved to Peasedown and needed somewhere to park her bike whilst out and about - thank you Debbie!'
